We are very pleased to be chosen by a group of secondary students at Bullers Wood School for Girls as part of the First Give Programme.

First Give is a national programme that works with secondary schools across England and Wales to inspire young people to engage with social issues in their communities through social action. Students learn about local charities, develop teamwork and presentation skills, and create projects that raise awareness, fundraise or make a positive impact for causes they care about. The programme culminates in a school final, where students present their work to a panel of judges for the chance to win a ยฃ1,000 grant for their chosen charity.ย

Designed to ignite a โspark of social conscienceโ in young people, the programme encourages students to become confident advocates for the causes they support, while building empathy, leadership and communication skills along the way. Since launching, First Give has empowered hundreds of thousands of young people to support charities and community organisations across the UK.ย
With a keen eye on winning a ยฃ1,000 donation for One in Four, the class have been busy using their lunch breaks and tutor time, developing social actions to raise understanding of the impact of child sexual abuse (CSA) and trauma in the school community and beyond.

โWorking alongside the class has been quite inspirational. Their passion and insight for our cause is both moving and life-affirming.โ
We will update this blog as we progress through this project.
